Portland to Tillamook: At last, I’m on my way. Crossing the St. John’s bridge out of Portland heading toward Tillamook — 112 miles and two passes away. Tomorrow, it’s off to Newport, another long day along Hwy 101 of about 98 miles, before heading toward Eugene, Oregon, and Missoula, Montana, then Yellowstone, Colorado, and ???. If you look at the photo carefully you’ll see the rear wheel is flat, the first of two cuts. Even with all the luggage, the bike is very stable. I’m blaming my sore legs on the airline, not the lack of training.
