Q: I got a pair of your cranks with BB90 bottom bracket for my Trek Speed Concept awhile back. Sadly, I’ve been unable to get them set up right. They were either so tight they were nearly impossible to turn or if loose enough to turn freely had a crazy amount if lateral play. Can you offer any advice? They are far too nice to be sitting gathering dust.

A: It sounds as though the spindle is not quite wide enough, our cranks are a close fit on the Trek BB90. The fix is to face the bearing lands with a headrace reamer (see pictures below), a good shop can do it or send it here and we will do it.

Note: Only applies to cranks made 2012 or later, the spindles on earlier cranks are more narrow and cannot be faced to fit.
